An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 27th minute of play forced Magic is Back's goalkeeper Ruben Sánchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Palermo in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 37 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Magic is Back's Ruben Sánchez. Ruben Sánchez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Martin Palermo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 46th minute of play forced Magic is Back's goalkeeper Ruben Sánchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Magic is Back players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martin Palermo made a kick off. Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 53rd minute of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Palermo in the 56th minute of play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Magic is Back was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gijsbert ter Kruimer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. If Roberto Mouzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Netherlands players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
