Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Zaccheo Andolina took the kick off in the first half of the match. Flavio Vittori made an important save on a dangerous shot by Augusto Cordario in the 5th minute. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filomeno Montrell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 9 minutes Italy's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Filomeno Montrell who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Ronan Mistral heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After having played for 12 minutes, Porziano Marchitelli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Italy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Porziano Marchitelli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erwin Huygens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Zaccheo Andolina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Zaccheo Andolina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Velez Sarsfield defense, Zaccheo Andolina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erwin Huygens. The Velez Sarsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erwin Huygens should have stopped the shot. 34 minutes in the game Arnoldo Mel did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Filomeno Montrell. Augusto Cordario could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Flavio Vittori made a huge save. Flavio Vittori stood somewhat misplaced when Augusto Cordario came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 41 minute. Erwin Huygens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Cordario in the 53rd minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Porziano Marchitelli blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erwin Huygens having to make a save. Erwin Huygens was out of position in the 55 minute of play, and Zaccheo Andolina capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zaccheo Andolina really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Zaccheo Andolina's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Erwin Huygens skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 59 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Sigfrido Auletta came free, but Erwin Huygens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zaccheo Andolina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erwin Huygens having to interfere. Sun Zhi Zhen hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Velez Sarsfield made a substitution. Leandro Berti replaced Ignacio Berenguer. The supporters of Italy booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sun Zhi Zhen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sigfrido Auletta. Sigfrido Auletta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Erwin Huygens made a huge save. Erwin Huygens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sigfrido Auletta's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Erwin Huygens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarsfield's Gaston Ávila got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 92 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Vittori narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match was over Italy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Velez Sarsfield throughout the match.
