Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo Pombal in the 6th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frank Sachs in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eguen Armesto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Fred de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Paulo Pombal in the 17th minute. After having played for 19 minutes, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Sachs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 26th minute of the match, Zé Paulo Pombal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Kahn saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Paulo Pombal in the 41st minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Paulo Pombal to strike the kick off in the second half. If Albin Holweck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Sílvio Lucas managed to get in a good position for a shot.
