Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 2nd minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Kléber Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kléber Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran back to his position shaking his head. Kléber Salles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lars Meesters went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Kléber Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kléber Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 26th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lars Meesters came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lars Meesters couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute, Pedro Donatello reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Arnout Reekers. The goal made the score 1-2. Kléber Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eurico Penha hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Kléber Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kléber Salles. Inter de São Paulo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaaf Groeneveldt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 41st minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. Lars Meesters was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 43rd minute of play. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 45th minute of play. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Inter de São Paulo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Netherlands were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 54th minute of play. Léo Simão's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Léo Simão helped the player get up and apologised. After 56 played minutes Inter de São Paulo got a freekick which was hit by Léo Simão. Inter de São Paulo's Milosz Korytkowski was substituted for Léo Simão. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kléber Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 65th minute of play. Kléber Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 68th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kléber Salles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Inter de São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Kléber Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 74th minute of play. Kléber Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Inter de São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesinha Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. Inter de São Paulo made a substitution. Gerson Coelho replaced Laércio Loureiro. In the 84th match minute, Inter de São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesinha Amorim to maneuver through the defense. Kléber Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 85th minute of the match. When Milosz Korytkowski fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter de São Paulo's protests and gave Milosz Korytkowski a yellow card for diving instead. After 86 played minutes Inter de São Paulo got a freekick which was hit by Milosz Korytkowski. Lars Meesters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Netherlands played a much better game than Inter de São Paulo and deserved their victory. The Inter de São Paulo players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
