In the 18th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amado Favila saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Janik Vogt. Tommy Kahn acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 32nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Vinicio Esquipula.
