Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jude Monkhouse in the 4th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Pimentel got free with Carlos Augusto Quintal in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Portugal's Felipe Barreto in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Várzea F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bruno Bastos during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 22 minutes of play, Várzea F.C.'s Jude Monkhouse made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dé Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Quintal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felipe Barreto. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 32nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Viriato Moura sped through Várzea F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carlos Augusto Quintal. In the 45th minute, one of Portugal:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Portugal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Paiva in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, Rogério Saldanha threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The throw-in from Anderson Paiva in the 74th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. 76 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Graciano Coutinho came free, but Carlos Augusto Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dé Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 81 minutes, Bartolomeu Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portugal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bartolomeu Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
