Lisandro Nuñez charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lisandro Nuñez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SAN LORENZO FC's Lisandro Nuñez got a free kick in the 45th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Meesters came free, but Dario Astigar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Gijsbert ter Kruimer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dario Astigar was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute, Bas Tuitert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ernie Siegel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Netherlands players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented SAN LORENZO FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
