The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Peter Shilton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 16 played minutes Italiano got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Låsberg. The supporters of Italiano booed when Carapa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgilio Laffitte didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute Lucas Ugutz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Shilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lucas Ugutz came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Carapa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucas Ugutz couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Carapa FC booed when Italiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joseph Låsberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Lucas Ugutz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Peter Shilton was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Ugutz in the 36th minute of play forced Italiano's goalkeeper Peter Shilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 40 minutes, Ramiro Quintanilha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Italiano and the Carapa FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 40th match minute, Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Quintanilha to maneuver through the defense. After 44 played minutes Diego Armando Maradona rounded Carapa FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ramiro Quintanilha made a kick off. After 52 minutes, Lucas Ugutz made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Italiano's Peter Shilton tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lucas Ugutz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Peter Shilton having to make a save. If Lucas Ugutz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peter Shilton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas Ugutz, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When Carapa FC's Lucas Ugutz in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Italiano's goalie prevented a goal. If Joseph Låsberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Max Östman made in the 72nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Diego Armando Maradona. Virgilio Laffitte's late challenge caught a Italiano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgilio Laffitte helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Italiano booed when Carapa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgilio Laffitte didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Lucas Ugutz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carapa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucas Ugutz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Shilton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lucas Ugutz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carapa FC's Virgilio Laffitte got his second yellow card of the match in the 82nd minute. The referee ordered Virgilio Laffitte off the ground. Virgilio Laffitte kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the game, Ramiro Quintanilha cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Braulio Manny was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Carapa FC's Teofilo Gonzalez got a free kick in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute, Diego Armando Maradona sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Carapa FC's Braulio Manny didn't even have to move. Italiano's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
