Anísio Moraes's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anísio Moraes helped the player get up and apologised. Alfredo de Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Patrick Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of the match. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Furlan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. David Eikelkamp hit a great ball. 39 minutes into the match, Liam Bray had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Liam Bray was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Alfredo de Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Gustaaf Groeneveldt's late challenge caught a Fluminense DF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fluminense DF's Patrick Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 56th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrick Neto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Patrick Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 66th minute, Fluminense DF's Osvaldo Furlan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Patrick Neto came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer. But to his dismay, Gijsbert ter Kruimer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 74th minute of play forced Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Patrick Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 雷鹏飞's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. After a rather tough play, Fluminense DF's Rei Pelé got a free kick in the 91st minute. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rei Pelé in the 95th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rei Pelé in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Netherlands's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
