Jozef Kišš hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Nigel Tamminga in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 10th minute, Wim Wilmes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel Tamminga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Älämdar Känanov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 18th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Älämdar Känanov hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Älämdar Känanov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mustafa Ekrem Akkaş in the 25th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Mustafa Ekrem Akkaş came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Älämdar Känanov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Štitáre's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. After 30 played minutes FC Štitáre got a freekick which was hit by Älämdar Känanov. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Nigel Tamminga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Älämdar Känanov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. In the 37th minute Mathijn Doctor suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Netherlands made a substitution. Kevin Drogt replaced Mathijn Doctor. The supporters of Netherlands booed when FC Štitáre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donovan Burris didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Štitáre's Mustafa Ekrem Akkaş got a free kick in the 40th minute. Mustafa Ekrem Akkaş sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 51st minute of play forced FC Štitáre's goalkeeper Nigel Tamminga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 53 minutes, Älämdar Känanov made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Gustaaf Groeneveldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nigel Tamminga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran back to his position shaking his head. Nigel Tamminga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 58th minute of play. If Lars Meesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 59 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nigel Tamminga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Nigel Tamminga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rune Aronsson. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. FC Štitáre's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nigel Tamminga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 71st minute of the match. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. David Eikelkamp hit a great ball. Nigel Tamminga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. After 84 minutes FC Štitáre's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Nigel Tamminga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 85th minute of the match. Mustafa Ekrem Akkaş could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. After 94 played minutes FC Štitáre got a freekick which was hit by Rune Aronsson. David Eikelkamp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Nigel Tamminga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Netherlands's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
