In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fodor Daniel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grêmio FBPA were awarded a corner in the 9th minute after Hungary's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stayko Vakareliyski took the corner. Fodor Daniel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgiliu Doroftei in the 14th minute of the match. Virgiliu Doroftei scored 0-2 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fodor Daniel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Hungary defense, Virgiliu Doroftei kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fodor Daniel. The Hungary fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fodor Daniel should have stopped the shot. Virgiliu Doroftei's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fodor Daniel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. After 28 minutes Hungary's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stayko Vakareliyski who took care of the corner kick. If Virgiliu Doroftei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andréas Linquist having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Virgiliu Doroftei came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Virgiliu Doroftei in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fodor Daniel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Virgiliu Doroftei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fodor Daniel was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Hungary's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Antal Valentin in the 49th minute. The corner ended in Antal Valentin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Grêmio FBPA's Andréas Linquist did a great save.

Andréas Linquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antal Valentin in the 58th minute of the match. Fodor Daniel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgiliu Doroftei, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Virgiliu Doroftei's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fodor Daniel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Luiz Paulo Marquez hit a great ball. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Bakos Endre hit a great ball. Bakos Endre made in the 79th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Geovanildo Zago. Fodor Daniel made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Virgiliu Doroftei sent off a good shot on target. In the 83rd minute Grêmio FBPA were awarded a corner. Stayko Vakareliyski went to the cornerflag to take it. After 85 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Bakos Endre. 88 minutes into the game, Virgiliu Doroftei recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fodor Daniel. Virgiliu Doroftei showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Although Hungary had been in control for most of the match, Grêmio FBPA still came away with the win.
