The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sérgio Romero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lars Meesters went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Sérgio Romero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 23rd minute of play forced Club Atletico Los Andes's goalkeeper Sérgio Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Los Andes's Lázaro Omero got a free kick in the 24th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Gentza came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 28 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sérgio Romero was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jesus Nerio spun around in front of the goal 32 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Netherlands's goal. Sérgio Romero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute, Rodrigo-Nicolas De Paul hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Club Atletico Los Andes's Sérgio Romero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 38th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Club Atletico Los Andes's Jesus Nerio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Rodrigo-Nicolas De Paul's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodrigo-Nicolas De Paul helped the player get up and apologised. After 48 played minutes Club Atletico Los Andes got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo-Nicolas De Paul. After 49 played minutes Club Atletico Los Andes got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Eutropio. After the first half Netherlands were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. Sérgio Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 56th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Romero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bas Tuitert in the 60th minute of play forced Club Atletico Los Andes's goalkeeper Sérgio Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Sérgio Romero made a huge save. If David Eikelkamp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Sérgio Romero successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 76th minute, Rodrigo-Nicolas De Paul hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Lars Meesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Atletico Los Andes's 徐文枫 was substituted for Jesus Nerio. Club Atletico Los Andes made a substitution. Leonel Farias replaced Nemesio Abarca. Sérgio Romero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 80th minute of play. With a little luck, Club Atletico Los Andes's Sérgio Romero got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sérgio Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 89th minute of the match. A well done corner resulted in Egbert Nijveldt drilling the ball in to score 1-4 behind Club Atletico Los Andes's goalkeeper. David Eikelkamp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Romero having to interfere. In the 95thth minute of the game 徐文枫 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
