In the 4th minute Caio da Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Michael Owen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Qikiqtarjuaq FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Michael Owen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 10th minute, Hubert Arthur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viriato Moura's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abel Bueno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Caio da Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Wilson Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Portugal booed when Qikiqtarjuaq FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilton Boyles didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Abel Bueno got control of the ball when Felipe Barreto tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Qikiqtarjuaq FC booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Qikiqtarjuaq FC fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Caio da Rocha looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Barreto got free with Abel Bueno in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the last second Abel Bueno throw himself and got hold of the ball when Viriato Moura in the 40thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Caetano Moreira slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Abel Bueno. That made the score 1-1 after 41 minutes of play. Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Alfonzo Davidson was substituted for Gary Thomason. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Abel Bueno made a huge save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Caio da Rocha to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Owen came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Caio da Rocha got free with Wilson Amorim in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 65 minutes into the match, Caio da Rocha notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 73rd minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Qikiqtarjuaq FC defense, Felipe Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abel Bueno. The Qikiqtarjuaq FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abel Bueno should have stopped the shot. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. 80 minutes into the match, Qikiqtarjuaq FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felipinho Amorim came free, but Abel Bueno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bartolomeu Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Bueno having to interfere. Abel Bueno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caio da Rocha in the 93rd minute. Caio da Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
