In the 15th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 18th minute of the match. In the 20thth minute of the game Zaccheo Andolina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Italy booed when New England Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ye Gang Cheng didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 22 minutes of play, Italy's Porziano Marchitelli made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeremy Nicholas was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Tony Pacheco got free with Flavio Vittori in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the New England Minas defense, Zaccheo Andolina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jeremy Nicholas. The New England Minas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jeremy Nicholas should have stopped the shot. Italy's Flavio Vittori proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Italy from getting a goal against them. Zena Busacca kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. A hard shot by Conny Tingberg from long distance, 44 minutes into the match, got Flavio Vittori's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The New England Minas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Italy were winning 1-2.
