Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvio Bazil having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Tiburcio Pepillo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Netherlands's Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovanni Arósio in the 20th minute of play. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Guillermo Izquierdo tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Giovanni Arósio came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Martin Palermo F.C. fans jumped to their feet. After a defensive mix-up in Martin Palermo F.C.'s zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvio Bazil came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Silvio Bazil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Silvio Bazil in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 48 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Silvio Bazil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Silvio Bazil made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when David Eikelkamp sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Gustaaf Groeneveldt took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Silvio Bazil to make any attempt to save it. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
