Pål Sefastsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 20th minute of play. Italy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sigfrido Auletta in the 21st minute. The corner led Italy's Sigfrido Auletta to fire away a dangerous shot which Pål Sefastsson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 22nd minute of play forced National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredric Melander in the 24th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Italy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavio Vittori should have stopped the shot. 91 minutes into the match, Italy's Adriano Curto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pål Sefastsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The National Team Cape-Verde fans' excitement grew in the 93rd match minute when National Team Cape-Verde's Alex Broberg looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a little luck, National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson got control of the ball when Guiscardo Davide tried to sneak it across the goal line. Italy's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
