In the 35thth minute of the game Gijsbert ter Kruimer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FORZA BRESCIA's Donato Garcia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato Garcia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. The supporters of FORZA BRESCIA booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wim Wilmes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
