Hermengildo Ferrando's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hermengildo Ferrando helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 19th minute of play forced Vαʅʅιɱαɳƈα FC's goalkeeper Kim-André van der Schans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aldo Tono got free with Arnout Reekers in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Remzi Oruz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arnout Reekers. That made the score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remzi Oruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 43rd minute Remzi Oruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kim-André van der Schans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kim-André van der Schans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Vαʅʅιɱαɳƈα FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Honorio Geleberto hit a great ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kim-André van der Schans read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. With a little luck, Vαʅʅιɱαɳƈα FC's Kim-André van der Schans got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line.
