After 3 played minutes Centeno got a freekick which was hit by Victorio Matai. 8 minutes into the match, Centeno's goalkeeper Ambrosio Dacio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Vanderstraeten. In the 14th minute Abelardo Bernabel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toro Halland, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victorio Matai in the 23rd minute of play. Yves Dervaux struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Ambrosio Dacio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Bernabel in the 26th minute of play. When Dariusz Adamski fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Centeno's protests and gave Dariusz Adamski a yellow card for diving instead. Dariusz Adamski kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Casper Claes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toro Halland's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ambrosio Dacio. That made the score 1-1 after 35 minutes of play. 38 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Toro Halland came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victorio Matai in the 40th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Abelardo Bernabel came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Centeno fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abelardo Bernabel couldn't finish the play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Vanderstraeten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Bernabel, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Ambrosio Dacio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yves Dervaux in the 60th minute of play. In the 64th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The corner led Belgium's Siebe Michiels to a score. 2-1 in the 71st minute. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ambrosio Dacio having to make a save. Centeno made a substitution. Victorino Haritzeder replaced Herbert Skrzypiec. The supporters of Belgium booed when Centeno was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Ovando didn't get a good kick on the ball. 90 minutes into the game, Centeno's Eugenio Ixidor nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Despite being the better team, Belgium failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
