An unexpectedly hard shot by Ponciano Olea in the 27th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ferit Boğatekin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iuri Galvan to make the kick off. Ferit Boğatekin came out of the goal and Lars Meesters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. AS Maraschin Calcio CIMZ's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ferit Boğatekin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ferit Boğatekin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 88th minute of the match.
