In the 15thth minute of the game Edward Vanderstraeten who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Percy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Robby Woodys short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Casper Claes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 39th minute Yves Dervaux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percy Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robby Woody's shot from short distance in the 40th minute.
