The crowd rose to their feet as Italy's Porziano Marchitelli slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Percy Fernandez. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualter Penha in the 18th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Zena Busacca. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Marco Tardelli in the 24 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 26th minute of play forced Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Italy were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after Sport Clube Recife's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. Siricio Liotta made a great header on Italy's corner, it was just that Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez managed to reach the ball for a save. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Robby Woody made a kick off. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualter Penha in the 50th minute of play. Sostene Vitulli took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Percy Fernandez. Percy Fernandez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The throw-in from Marco Tardelli in the 72nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Siricio Liotta. Eliseo Cutri struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Percy Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. The throw-in from Nurkan Semdin in the 87th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Porziano Marchitelli. Edu Trancoso kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Percy Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Curto in the 93rd minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Curto came free, but Percy Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Italy were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sport Clube Recife for a fine match.
