Vavrinec Holub showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferenc van Nistelrooij in the 24th minute of the match. The supporters of Czech Republic booed when S.João de Areias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferenc van Nistelrooij didn't get a good kick on the ball. Svatopluk Capek kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Czech Republic's Svatopluk Capek got a free kick in the 30th minute. After 37 played minutes S.João de Areias got a freekick which was hit by Teófilo Pinto. When Denis Dostal came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Czech Republic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Dostal couldn't finish the play. Fatih Tekke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vavrinec Holub having to interfere. Bonifacio Aznar might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vavrinec Holub. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bonifacio Aznar ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ferenc van Nistelrooij made a kick off. After 52 played minutes Czech Republic got a freekick which was hit by Bohumir Kohout. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Silvano Severo managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.João de Areias's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvano Severo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vavrinec Holub breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Czech Republic getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Daniel Vitek hit a great ball. Ferenc van Nistelrooij received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Czech Republic's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Erik Jilek in the 58th minute. Valdemar Turecek hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bonifacio Aznar during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Czech Republic booed when S.João de Areias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bonifacio Aznar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Denis Dostal kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Ferenc van Nistelrooij sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
