After 5 minutes, Romário Marques mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hannover Football Club and the Austria players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Sandro Galishoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 19 played minutes Hannover Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Siqueira. After a rather tough play, Austria's Sandro Galishoff got a free kick in the 20th minute. Célio Ceresso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sandro Galishoff went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Eusébio Quirino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Fabio Auer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eusébio Quirino struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Fabio Auer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hannover Football Club. When Hannover Football Club's Toninho Lira in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Austria's goalie prevented a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Toninho Lira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hannover Football Club's Célio Ceresso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro Galishoff in the 51st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Toninho Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hannover Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Toninho Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Auer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Toninho Liras short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Fabio Auer to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 66 in the game by Toninho Lira from a close distance when the talented Fabio Auer managed to make a qualified save. Austria's players were relieved. The supporters of Austria booed when Hannover Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romário Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Austria's Sandro Galishoff got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 84th minute, Sandro Galishoff ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Célio Ceresso was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Fabio Schneider recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leonhard Maier struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Célio Ceresso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Austria. Toninho Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hannover Football Club players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Austria.
