The supporters of Netherlands booed when Wrexham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Siro Suarez didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 28th minute of play forced Wrexham's goalkeeper Lorenz Ureta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 32 minutes Netherlands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Errapel Aguiluz who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Errapel Aguiluz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers did a great save. In the 38th match minute, Wrexham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dimitri Payet to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. In the 60th minute, David Eikelkamp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 95th minute, Rayman Rioseras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 97 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Wrexham's Lorenz Ureta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Netherlands walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
