Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mauro Boselli in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 38th minute Mauro Boselli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Wim Wilmes. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. Netherlands's Wim Wilmes got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Gaspar Ihazintu hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Ismael Vellito in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Boselli in the 56th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ismael Vellito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Eikelkamp in the 58th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Boselli in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 67th minute of play forced Shuspendemo's goalkeeper Ismael Vellito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ismael Vellito saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 73rd minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Vellito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Réda Kolb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shuspendemo's Amado Laurin was substituted for Silverio Francho. Shuspendemo's Venancio Kepa was substituted for Réda Kolb. Shuspendemo's Diego Gerber was substituted for Mikolaj Biraga. Mathijn Doctor hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 90th minute Venancio Kepa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
