The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 7 minutes into the match, Canastro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Vladimir Miheev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Canastro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zbyszko Cupial didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vladimir Miheev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roger Palmeira's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Palmeira helped the player get up and apologised. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Pedro Silva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Canastro FC's zone, Lars Meesters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimir Miheev came out of the goal and Lars Meesters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
