Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barbaros Bozbey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. The corner led Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer to fire away a dangerous shot which Barbaros Bozbey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of The Cavern Club booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bas Tuitert didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Barbaros Bozbey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Arnout Reekers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovani Mendonça stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Wim Wilmes could shoot a difficult shot in the 51st minute, which Barbaros Bozbey however easily saved by the left post. 55 minutes into the match, The Cavern Club's goal looked a bit too open when David Eikelkamp came free, but Barbaros Bozbey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barbaros Bozbey made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. In the 59th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barbaros Bozbey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lars Meesters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Barbaros Bozbey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute of the match, Wim Wilmes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Barbaros Bozbey was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 77th minute, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Barbaros Bozbey made a huge save. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovani Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 89 minutes into the game, Geovani Mendonça cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Barbaros Bozbey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute, Richard Nixon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. The Cavern Club had won after a very even match.
