Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alípio Rego having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Zeus Duarte came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeus Duarte in the 9th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 10th minute of play forced Bembenfica's goalkeeper Alípio Rego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alípio Rego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Alípio Rego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 20th minute of the match. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bembenfica's goalkeeper Alípio Rego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, Bembenfica's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Alípio Rego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After 44 played minutes Bembenfica got a freekick which was hit by Qu Ting Ming. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Alípio Rego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 59th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Alípio Rego made a huge save. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Alípio Rego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bembenfica's Alípio Rego proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Bembenfica from getting a goal against them. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alípio Rego. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wim Wilmes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 87thth minute of the game Gijsbert ter Kruimer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bembenfica's Alípio Rego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zhang Ting Guo hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's Wim Wilmes got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Netherlands were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
