The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Mauro Barreto in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Nascimento came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitório Nascimento in the 11th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauro Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After 14 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Lenny Clocheret. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davi Lendaa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sander Dermaut hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Natã Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute Vitório Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davi Lendaa in the 22nd minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Davi Lendaa made a precise shot to the right of Casper Claes. Belgium's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Mauro Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 26th minute of the match. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 40 minutes, Lenny Clocheret mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Belgium and the Nova Venécia-ES players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lenny Clocheret hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The supporters of Belgium booed when Nova Venécia-ES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Huang Peng Ning didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Belgium's zone, Natã Quintal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casper Claes came out of the goal and Natã Quintal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The audience was convinced that Davi Lendaa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Casper Claes was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mauro Barreto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. 66 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Paranaense came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vitório Nascimento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Casper Claes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Davi Lendaa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 73 minute of play. Mauro Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 79th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Venécia-ES's zone, Edward Vanderstraeten stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauro Barreto came out of the goal and Edward Vanderstraeten tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, one of Nova Venécia-ES:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Nova Venécia-ES. The referee gave Belgium a penalty, 85 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Edward Vanderstraeten, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Nova Venécia-ES's Mauro Barreto. 1-6. In the 90th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Nova Venécia-ES eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
