Desastre FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damir Pongrac was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Eduard Kostelac managed to get in a good position for a shot. Croatia's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduard Kostelac was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Inocencio Bertin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 19 minutes into the match, Desastre FC's Cirilo Benvido sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ilija Skugor narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damir Pongrac in the 20th minute of play forced Desastre FC's goalkeeper Inocencio Bertin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Esteban Servando could shoot a difficult shot in the 30th minute, which Ilija Skugor however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damir Pongrac in the 31st minute of play forced Desastre FC's goalkeeper Inocencio Bertin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilija Skugor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cirilo Benvido in the 37th minute. Inocencio Bertin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toni Mauzer, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half Croatia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Esteban Servando to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toni Mauzer got free with Inocencio Bertin in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 54th minute Toni Mauzer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inocencio Bertin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Croatia's Ilija Skugor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Marquez in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the game, Desastre FC's Norberto Dunixi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ilija Skugor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Ilija Skugor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esteban Servando in the 95th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Desastre FC's zone, Toni Mauzer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inocencio Bertin came out of the goal and Toni Mauzer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Croatia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
