The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre Mourinho during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kyle Cox scored 1-3 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélder Matias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 43rd minute of the match England got a corner. Spartak das Kaldas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Micah Macdonald ran over to the corner to take the kick. Caelan Hayes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. England's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Óscar Fontoura scored to the left of an out of position Khalid Kennedy, making the score, 2-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
