The supporters of Portugal booed when Club Atlético Magallanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafin Hug didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Caetano Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jimeno Nevada breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Felipe Barreto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jimeno Nevada. That made the score 1-1 after 35 minutes of play. Jimeno Nevada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Jimeno Nevada made a huge save. Club Atlético Magallanes made a substitution. Tadeo Precioso replaced Samuel Pereira. Portugal's Faustino Almeida managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tadeo Precioso in the 65 minute of the game. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gavino Rami in the 66th minute of the match. Jimeno Nevada came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Portugal's Felipe Barreto. But to his dismay, Felipe Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Jimeno Nevada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipinho Amorim in the 73rd minute of play. In the 78th minute Felipinho Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimeno Nevada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Club Atlético Magallanes eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
