But to his dismay, Leonardo de Lara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After a rather tough play, Esporte Clube Pilar's Nando Gerber got a free kick in the 11th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 14th minute of play forced Esporte Clube Pilar's goalkeeper Paulo Victor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 35 minutes, Albin Holweck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Germany and the Esporte Clube Pilar players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Leonardo de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Zonta came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Sven Krakouer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, Leonardo de Lara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonardo de Lara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. When Frank Sachs came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Germany fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Sachs couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Esporte Clube Pilar booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Sachs didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the game, Yan Zonta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 83 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Chris Mergenthaler. Germany's Frank Sachs got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yan Zonta scored 5-0 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Kahn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Esporte Clube Pilar fully deserved thier win.
