In the 4th minute Genaro Aragones shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Washington Novaes fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São José City - FSCMZ's protests and gave Washington Novaes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th minute, Washington Novaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Lino Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. The supporters of Netherlands booed when São José City - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agnaldo Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lino Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kees Mooiweer to maneuver through the defense. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genaro Aragones in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genaro Aragones in the 31st minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Waldemar Marques got free with Arnout Reekers in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lino Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldemar Marques, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After 54 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Wim Wilmes. In the 56thth minute of the game Waldemar Marques who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 61 minutes of play, São José City - FSCMZ's Waldemar Marques made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnout Reekers was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wim Wilmes in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lino Mazza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Mazza having to interfere. São José City - FSCMZ's Primo Mazzola quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Kees Mooiweer, made in the 72nd minute of the game. In the 72nd minute, Primo Mazzola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gijsbert ter Kruimer succeeded in the game's 74th minute to get real power on a long shot . São José City - FSCMZ's Lino Mazza hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-3! The throw-in from Giuseppe Correia in the 78th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Netherlands's Lars Meesters.
