The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Junior Shevchenko in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 41stth minute of the game Junior Shevchenko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Belgium's Casper Claes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Vanderstraeten didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebius Smolarek in the 47th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edward Vanderstraeten to strike the kick off in the second half. Dietbald Ströbele came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten. But to his dismay, Edward Vanderstraeten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Casper Claes made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Bogdan Mangúrov sent off a good shot on target. Edward Vanderstraeten scored 5-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dietbald Ströbele, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 70 minutes Manchester United FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edward Vanderstraeten who took care of the corner kick. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Simon Sabbe got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 6-0. 70 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Lenny Clocheret got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Dietbald Ströbele came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten. But to his dismay, Edward Vanderstraeten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bogdan Mangúrov in the 80th minute. Krum Tabov kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Manchester United FC's Dietbald Ströbele played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 87th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten made a precise shot to the right of Dietbald Ströbele. Manchester United FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0.
