The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Zaccheo Andolina came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dráusio Mota got free with Flavio Vittori in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute Ronaldo Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘ booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sigfrido Auletta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zaccheo Andolina in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arlindo Rossi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arlindo Rossi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Víktor Silva was the one to do the kick off. Zaccheo Andolina's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Arlindo Rossi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The supporters of └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘ booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sostene Vitulli didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Arlindo Rossi managed to avoid a goal in the 98thth minute, when Italy's Adriano Curto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The └◘RivierA▬Þauli§tA◘┘ supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Italy's performance. The match ended with a win for Italy.
