TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 4th minute of play. Felipe Munhoz charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felipe Munhoz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice moves Felipe Queiroz could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Arnout Reekers however easily saved by the left post. 14 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sílvio Zonta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sílvio Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 21st minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Zonta having to interfere. 32 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sílvio Zonta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After 37 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sílvio Zonta was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sílvio Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Netherlands's Wim Wilmes, in the 41st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. 43 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Sílvio Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Sílvio Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bruninho Silva to strike the kick off in the second half. When Bruninho Silva fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored TAQUARI FC's protests and gave Bruninho Silva a yellow card for diving instead. Bruninho Silva hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored 0-5 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sílvio Zonta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 59 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Zonta. Sílvio Zonta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 70 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 0-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sílvio Zonta was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 73 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. After a rather tough play, TAQUARI FC's Felipe Munhoz got a free kick in the 74th minute. Sílvio Zonta made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Zonta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Zonta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save TAQUARI FC from getting a goal against them. Gustaaf Groeneveldt was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 86th minute. Netherlands's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Zonta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save TAQUARI FC from getting a goal against them. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 96th minute of play. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than TAQUARI FC throughout the match.
