Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Germany's Frank Sachs started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute George Bălanescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 12th minute of play forced DINAMO PLOIESTI's goalkeeper Gelu Balotă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sidnei Donato was extremely unlucky when he, in the 47th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Bălanescu to make the kick off.
