Costin Giugiuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Aurelio Mederi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Arnout Reekers. Aurelio Mederi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 14th minute of play forced A.C. Milan's goalkeeper Costin Giugiuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of A.C. Milan's Costin Giugiuc. Costin Giugiuc was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 25 minutes into the game, A.C. Milan's Aurelio Mederi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Lars Meesters came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lars Meesters couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Aurelio Mederi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Costin Giugiuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 minutes A.C. Milan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aurelio Mederi in the 42nd minute. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costică Chiriloaie in the 43rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Costică Chiriloaie kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arnout Reekers. That made the score 3-1 in the 43 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, A.C. Milan's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Mederi, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After a defensive mix-up in A.C. Milan's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Costin Giugiuc came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A.C. Milan's John Lovera got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, A.C. Milan's goalkeeper Costin Giugiuc had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. Costin Giugiuc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 64th minute. With a little luck, A.C. Milan's Costin Giugiuc got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after A.C. Milan's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The corner ended in Gustaaf Groeneveldt almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but A.C. Milan's Costin Giugiuc did a great save. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's David Eikelkamp got a free kick in the 69th minute. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emil Gheară in the 79th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Mathijn Doctor got a free kick in the 80th minute. Costin Giugiuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. A.C. Milan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Gijsbert ter Kruimer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but A.C. Milan's Costin Giugiuc did a great save. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Mederi in the 90th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. A.C. Milan had won after a very even match.
