In the 11th minute of the match Chris Nygaard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Atarratze Solis skillfully saved the ball. When Theis Winther fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Denmark's protests and gave Theis Winther a yellow card for diving instead. Chris Nygaard's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Atarratze Solis skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Petroleros de Cabimas getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Viviano Aguilar hit a great ball. Denmark's Olav Graversen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Xurxo Rasines, made in the 24th minute of the game. Lars Steen's late challenge caught a Petroleros de Cabimas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lars Steen helped the player get up and apologised. After 25 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Lars Steen. The audience was convinced that Llorienzo Lecanda's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Keld Paulsen was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Denmark's Keld Paulsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Llorienzo Lecanda in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Lars Steen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A throw-in in the 34th minute of the game was made by Gonsalve Aubets with Corderun Perucho as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Keld Paulsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Llorienzo Lecanda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
