Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Henric, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 3rd minute Emilio Henric shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vinicio Venceslas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emilio Henric went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Lajos Vadász made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 35th minute of play. Lajos Vadász showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 41st minute of the match. After 42 played minutes Club A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Shtapov. After 43 played minutes Club A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Santiago Iliana. Lajos Vadász showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 46th minute of the match. Lajos Vadász took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Lajos Vadász threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Lajos Vadász made a huge save. A collision led to Club A. Independiente getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Santiago Iliana hit a great ball. With a little luck, Club A. Independiente's Lajos Vadász got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Lajos Vadász tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Henric came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Alberto Acosta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lajos Vadász. That made the score 2-2 after 89 minutes of play. In the 94th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lajos Vadász saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
