The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. André Nordmark made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 3rd minute. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Björkman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Casper Claes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Peter Björkman went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jens-Ola Haegg in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute Alex Isaksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Blueskatterna's André Nordmark played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Dervaux in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes FC Blueskatterna got a freekick which was hit by Erik Majman. 20 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Björkman came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Belgium's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henrik Löv was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Blueskatterna's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Henrik Löv got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Casper Claes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. André Nordmark showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. André Nordmark came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten. But to his dismay, Edward Vanderstraeten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Belgium's zone, Kevin Fagrell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casper Claes came out of the goal and Kevin Fagrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Isaksson in the 33rd minute of play. FC Blueskatterna's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Edward Vanderstraeten 36 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. After a rather tough play, FC Blueskatterna's Erik Majman got a free kick in the 39th minute. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without André Nordmark having to make a save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Peter Björkman made a kick off. André Nordmark made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 55th minute of play. Edward Vanderstraeten scored 3-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Nordmark, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Björkman in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 63rd minute of play forced FC Blueskatterna's goalkeeper André Nordmark to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alex Isaksson. FC Blueskatterna's André Nordmark played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 68th minute of play. Henrik Löv sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Nordmark. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Blueskatterna's goalkeeper André Nordmark, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 78th minute Belgium were awarded a corner. Edward Vanderstraeten went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Simon Sabbe almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC Blueskatterna's André Nordmark did a great save. 81 minutes into the match, FC Blueskatterna's goal looked a bit too open when Yves Dervaux came free, but André Nordmark reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but André Nordmark read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Björkman in the 84th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kjell Hurtig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten made a precise shot to the right of André Nordmark. FC Blueskatterna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Casper Claes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Björkman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Belgium had played much better football throughout.
