After 15 minutes Netherlands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wit Malewicz who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Wicher Wilchwy Come Back's Radomil Nakonieczny getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After 28 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Mathijn Doctor. Simon Högberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 35th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a free kick in the 36th minute. Simon Högberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Izydor Roman got free with Arnout Reekers in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jiang Fan Yun in the 44th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
