In the 13th minute, Bertil Näver reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tommy Kahn. The goal made the score 2-0. Bernt Carlberg was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 19th minute. AC United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bertil Näver in the 27th minute. Bertil Näver came free with the goalkeeper in the 33rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tommy Kahn could save by the left post. Bertil Näver received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Bertil Näver slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 39th minute. The supporters of AC United booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 48th minute, Bertil Näver made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bertil Näver stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
