Bayern Boliviano's Antonio Giorgio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 9th minute of play. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Håkan Rudkvist in the 11th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Håkan Rudkvist put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Arnout Reekers. Ramon Iztal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Wim Wilmes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Antonio Giorgio was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. The Netherlands manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Bayern Boliviano to win.
