With a little luck, SK Dreigoten's Marcos Díaz got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michael Wirinckx to make the kick off. Marcos Díaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 53rd minute of the match. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. After 85 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Díaz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the SK Dreigoten defense, David Eikelkamp kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Díaz. The SK Dreigoten fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Díaz should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Netherlands fans cheered their team off the field, for while SK Dreigoten had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
