In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pavel Romanescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 15th minute of the match. Pavel Romanescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 18th minute of play. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artemio Quiroga in the 24th minute of play. Wiktor Dropinski hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Siricio Liotta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miromir Bilicki, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Shaun Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Porziano Marchitelli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siricio Liotta in the 42nd minute of play forced FC Pegasas Siauliai's goalkeeper Pavel Romanescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sigfrido Auletta to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Gomberto Picozzi hit a great ball. Flavio Vittori made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Miromir Bilicki sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zaccheo Andolina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
