After some careless play in the Cosmos Soccer Club defense, Victor Hess kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bruce Nesbitt. The Cosmos Soccer Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bruce Nesbitt should have stopped the shot. Hans Ladd hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Russ Thorne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 9 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Woody Napier came free, but Bruce Nesbitt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 11 minutes, Russ Thorne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cosmos Soccer Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Russ Thorne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bruce Nesbitt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Desmond Rowell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rudolph Saunders kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 20th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Ladd to maneuver through the defense. Cyrus Crouch didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-1 via right post in the game's 22nd minute. Cosmos Soccer Club's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! In the 29th match minute, Cosmos Soccer Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sid Hart to maneuver through the defense. Bruce Nesbitt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Ladd in the 36th minute of the match. Forrest Hopkins hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Cyrus Crouch in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Von Arroyo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bruce Nesbitt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Hess in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cyrus Crouch to make the kick off. Bruce Nesbitt made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Woody Napier sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hans Ladd got free with Bruce Nesbitt in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute, Hans Ladd reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bruce Nesbitt. The goal made the score 1-3. 79 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Desmond Rowell came free, but Bruce Nesbitt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Von Arroyo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Franklin Willingham went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 3-3 when Russ Thorne sped through Santos FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Von Arroyo. Woody Napier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Bruce Nesbitt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Victor Hess hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Franklin Willingham took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Von Arroyo. Von Arroyo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. For all the effort they put into the match, the Santos FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cosmos Soccer Club.
