But to his dismay, Cyrus Crouch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. After the first half Cosmos Soccer Club were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cyrus Crouch to make the kick off. Randall Haynes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Nesbitt having to interfere. Glen Goode made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cyrus Crouch in the 55th minute. Philip Weathers hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Glen Goode was out of position in the 57 minute of play, and Franklin Willingham capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Franklin Willingham really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. Franklin Willingham received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Spangler came free, but Bruce Nesbitt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jon Smith took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bruce Nesbitt. Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience was convinced that A.J. Spangler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruce Nesbitt was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Cosmos Soccer Club's Bruce Nesbitt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by A.J. Spangler in the 96th minute of play.
